Indiana Democrats renew push for marijuana legalization

STATEWIDE — Indiana Democrats are pushing for the legalization of marijuana in the Hoosier State.

The latest push comes after a US Senate campaign ad was released for Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott, which shows him smoking marijuana in Illinois and calling for it to be legalized in Indiana.

McDermott is running for the Senate seat currently held by Republican incumbent Todd Young.

Democrats have attempted to legalize marijuana during the last several Indiana General Assembly sessions, but their efforts have been rejected each time.

Republicans hold supermajorities in both the Indiana House and Senate, along with the Governor’s office.
