In a girls soccer ranked battle, Lawrenceburg tops Batesville

Back on the natural grass soccer field Tuesday at Lawrenceburg, the host No. 10 Lady Tigers defeated No. 19 Batesville 2-0.

Lawrenceburg coach Bill Offutt reported Chloe Meyer scored on an assist by Ryleigh Offutt in the first half.  Offutt later scored on a 25-yard direct kick in the second half.  Keeper Kate Brayton had the shutout in goal with two saves.

“The team competed well defensively but couldn’t get the offense going,” said Batesville coach Katie Hartman.  “Huge defensive efforts were made by Renee Lecher, Jadyn Harrington, Calley Kaiser, Lily Meyer, and Angela Diaz to keep the Lady Tigers at one goal per half.”

Lawrenceburg also won the JV match 7-1.

Tiger goals came from Preslee Rugg and Kamrn Ferreira with two each. Morgan Manford, Ashley Watkins and Ira Crocker scored once.  Assists went to Rugg, Crocker, Manford and Kayli Mueller.

Scoring the only goal for Batesville was Ella Wolters.

We thank coaches Offutt and Hartman for the information.
