Improper passing suspected in Franklin County crash

Franklin County, In. — A report from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department says improper passing could have been the cause of a crash Sunday, September 23.

Deputies say at 5:49 p.m. a car driven by Romeo Ventura Diaz, 21, of Cincinnati, was eastbound on State Road 252 near Dorrell Road when he attempted to make a pass on a hill. During the pass, Diaz struck a westbound car driven by Dustin Linder, 33, of Brookville.

Linder told deputies he attempted to swerve but could not avoid Diaz. He was not injured. Two witnesses stopped at the scene and told investigators they witnesses Diaz make at least two other overtake maneuvers in no passing zones.

Diaz was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
