IHSAA Girls Track Sectional results from May 17; EC wins

The IHSAA Girls Track and Field Sectional was held Tuesday.  East Central was one of the host sites and the Lady Trojans won their sectional 186-108.5 over second place Batesville.

Batesville’s Lisa Gausman-  Overall it was a pretty pleasant night for the girls 13 team track sectionals and Batesville came ready to compete.  The Batesville Bulldogs have 9 different events moving on to Regional competition next week, with some events having multiple Bulldogs advancing.  To advance, you must place in the top 3 for the night or be one of the next 4 fastest times going into the Regional meet to fill the field of 16. Although Batesville didn’t have any individual Sectional champions, the girls placed a very solid 2nd as a team to a very strong East Central team 186-108.5.  Lawrenceburg just outscored Greensburg 79-75. North Decatur’s Ashley Dillon- The Varsity Girls Track Team traveled to East Central Tuesday night to compete in the IHSAA Sectional.Ella Kunz placed 7th in Shot Put with a PR of 31′ and placed 8th with a distance of 91’09”.

Skyla Wade placed 7th in Discus with a distance of 91’10”.

Connersville also won the sectional it hosted.  Here is an unedited recap from coach Jeff Cooley- The girls track and field team won the I.H.S.A.A. sectional last night scoring 104 points and beating Richmond by 1.5 points. Kaytelyn Seeley finished 3rd and Kierra Mckinney fourth in the 100. Kaytelyn Seeley and Abbi Soriano finished 2nd and 5th in the 200. Katelyn Seeley and Abbi Soriano finished 1st and 2nd in the 400. Raykaya Dixon was 3rd in the 800. Paige Dafler was 5th in the 3200. Lexi Barr was 4th in the 100 hurdles and 2nd in the 300 hurdles. The 4×100 team (Sudhoff Frank Creech McKinney) were 4th. The 4×400 team (Seeley Soriano Barr Dixon) were 1st. The 4×800 team ( Dafler Clark Lakes Dixon) were 4th. Brooke Sudhoff won the pole vault and set a new sectional record at 10’0″. Gwynn Higbie was 5th in the pole vault. Kierra McKinney was 5th and Makayla Strong was 7th in the long jump. Any girl or relay team who finished in the top 3 places will participate in the regional at Franklin on Tuesday.
