(St. Leon, IN) – The identity of the man who was struck and killed in a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash Tuesday night on State Road 1 in St. Leon has been released.
The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office says 57-year-old Walter Powell of Brookville tried to cross 1 from the west side of the road near I-74 when he walked in front of a southbound pickup truck.
Powell was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to UC Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Indiana State Police assisted with the crash reconstruction.
Deputies were also assisted at the scene by St. Leon Fire and First Responders, and Harrison (Ohio) Fire and EMS.

(St. Leon, IN) – A pedestrian is dead after they were hit by a vehicle on State Road 1 in St. Leon Tuesday night.
It happened around 6:30 pm near the I-74 westbound on-ramp.
The unidentified victim was taken to UC Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police are investigating.
