Ida B. Nobbe, age 100 of Batesville, died Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born April 7, 1919 in Hamburg, Indiana, she was six days short of her 101st birthday and is the daughter of Anna (Nee: Schulte) and Peter Lecher. She married Anthony Nobbe September 25, 1948 at St. Anne’s Church in Hamburg and he preceded her in death December 2, 2006.
Ida was devout, praying the rosary at least once a day. Her family also indicated she was an exceptional cook and they will miss her homemade noodles, bread, cherry pies and jellies. She proudly raised a large garden each year, canning the excess to be used over the winter. Ida did quite a bit of sewing, embroidering and quilting over the years and dearly loved visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Anita (Steve) Schoettmer of Greensburg, Rita (Tim) Brebberman of Batesville; son Norbert (Mary Jo) Nobbe of Batesville; brothers Edward Lecher of Greensburg, James Lecher of Batesville; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter Dorothy Jean (Jeannie) Nobbe; sister Frieda Nobbe and brothers Leo, George, Norbert, William, Joseph, Harry, Herman and Paul Lecher.
Due to the Governor’s mandate of gatherings being limited to 10 people, a private visitation and funeral service will be held Saturday. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Louis School or the Margaret Mary Health Foundation Cancer Center and sent to Weigel Funeral Home, P.O. Box 36, Batesville, Indiana, 47006 and they will be forwarded to the family.
