Hungate selected to fill Decatur County Council vacancy

DECATUR COUNTY, IN — Ashley Emsweller Hungate received the most votes during a Decatur County Republican Party caucus to fill the vacant County Council District 4 seat.

The vacancy was created by the recent passing of Larry Meyer.

A total of six candidates filed, including Wade Farr II, who was a Precinct Committeeman but abstained from voting.

Four Precinct Committeemen ended up voting on the six candidates.

As a result of Hungate’s selection, Decatur County Council is now made up of four men and three women, which is believed to be the highest number of female representation ever on County Council.
