Human Remains Indentified

(Franklin County, IN) – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says human remains discovered in the southeastern part of the county last Friday are those of Roger Paul Purcell, who was reported missing on June 21, 2024.

According to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, the identification was made through the examination of medical devices associated with Purcell’s previous surgeries.

The sheriff’s office say the investigation remains ongoing pending additional autopsy and forensic examination results.

In addition, the sheriff’s office says more information will be released as it becomes available, and as appropriate for the continuing investigation.

Along with the coroner’s office, deputies are thanking the University of Indianapolis Human Identification Center Forensic Anthropology Team, and all assisting agencies for their efforts throughout the investigation.
