HS boys basketball recaps from Tuesday, February 22

The following are reported boys high school basketball recaps from Tuesday, February 22.  There may be updates, so please check back.

Milan got its second win of the season and did so on Senior Night as the Indians defeated Shawe 57-46.  MJ Hartman, Cole Knecht, Landon Morgan and Caiden Yorn were all honored.

The Indians trailed the Hilltoppers by three at the break and were down one at the third stop.  But Milan outscored Shawe 16-4 in the fourth quarter to win the ORVC contest by 11.

The Indians were led by Kohen Rinear with 17 points, three rebounds and three steals. Hartman had 13 points and 10 assists for a double double. Ben Riehle also scored 13 and secured five boards while Yorn added eight points and four caroms.

Philip Kahn led Shawe with 19 points and Jack Grote garnered 17.

The Milan JV prevailed 62-22 thanks in part to a 16-1 start.  Of the 12 Indians who scored, Mason Green was tops with 10 points, Cole McClellan followed with nine while both Zander Courter and Jacob McGuire each had seven.

North Decatur’s varsity picked up a 51-45 win over Waldron.  Lance Nobbe led the Chargers with 17 points.  Teammate Kaden Muckerheide put in 14.  The win gave ND a second place finish in the Mid Hoosier Conference behind undefeated Edinburgh.

North’s JV team won big over the Mohawks, 54-27 to finish the conference season undefeated at 6-0.  Jack Koehne headlined a balanced scoring attack with 11 points.  Caiden Gahimer followed with 10 while both Cooper Parmer and Brady Mauer scored eight.

South Decatur was a 64-55 winner at Oldenburg.

The Cougars Hunter Johnson posted 29 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.  The senior hit two triples and made all nine of his free throws.  Teammate Evan Wullenweber scored 18 with 15 coming on five long balls while Jacob Scruggs contributed eight points and six assists.

For the Twisters, CJ Grote scored 14, Nick Folop followed with 12 and Frank Moorman chipped in 11.

Southwestern Hanover beat Charlestown 78-58.

The Rebels put five players into double-figure scoring: Zach Cole 17, Parker Davis 14, 13 each by Mitch Mingione and Colton Cloud and 10 via Jamison Lewis.  Davis had a team-high nine rebounds, Cole posted a team-best six assists, and Mingione led the club in steals with five.

South Dearborn routed Rushville 69-38.  Eli Hoffman’s 23 points led the Knights.  Teammates Reese and Ryan Willoughby scored 14 and 13 points respectively.
