Howard C. “Hoot” Rodgers Jr., 79, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
He was born March 10, 1943, in Cincinnati, OH, son of the late Howard C. Rodgers Sr.and Rosina (Schwing) Rodgers.
Hoot worked for Schwanholt’s Service Station, then as a laborer for Individual Mausoleum Vault Company.
He was a long time active member of the Aurora Eagles and a former member of the Aurora Moose.
Hoot took pride in everything that he did. In his younger days he loved to hunt and fish. He was an avid collector of arrowheads, Indian relics and also a coin collector. He loved family time, especially time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Hoot is survived by his loving spouse Linda (Herrick) Rodgers, children, David (Amy) Broughton of Lawrenceburg, IN, Melody (Billy) Laird of Greendale, IN, Mary Rodgers of Springfield, OH; siblings, Ronald Lee “Pete” Rodgers of Aurora, IN, Cathy (Ray) Rudisell of Guilford, IN, Donna Sue Schoffner of Greendale, IN, Bonnie (Donald) Stano of Dillsboro, IN; grandchildren, Lana Chandler, Daniel (Kalin) Taylor, Theodore (Jamie) Randall, Jacob (Kaitlynn) Taylor, Katelyn (Michael) Hollin, David Randall; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Rosina; sister, Sue Rodgers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 3:00 -7:00 pm at the Dearborn Adult Center, 311 W. Tate Street, Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
