Houchin’s Office Returns Nearly $3.5 Million to Constituents

(Washington, D.C.) – Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) announced that her office has returned nearly $3.5 million to constituents across Indiana’s 9th District through casework assistance since taking office.

The recovered funds include IRS refunds, Social Security benefits, veterans’ claims, and other federal payments that were delayed, denied, or mishandled by agencies.

“We are here to serve,” said Congresswoman Houchin. “Every dollar returned to a family or individual in Indiana’s 9th District is money that belongs to them—not Washington. Whether it’s working through the IRS, the VA, or Social Security, we are committed to cutting through red tape and delivering results.”

Among the many Hoosiers helped through her office were Chelsey Wyatt and her husband Kyle, who were owed nearly $13,000 by the IRS.

“We are so thankful to Congresswoman Houchin and her team for stepping in and helping us recover what we were owed,” said Chelsey Wyatt. “With seven kids to care for, nearly $13,000 makes a huge difference for our family. We truly appreciate the support and quick response—we couldn’t have done it without them.”

Another constituent, Stacey Brasher, faced a long delay in resolving a Social Security issue.

“I reached out to Congresswoman Houchin’s office after long delays in communicating with the Social Security office,” said Stacey Brasher. “I immediately received a reply from her office wishing to follow up with me. Her staff was instrumental in getting a solution and the problem solved on my behalf.”

Constituents in need of assistance with federal agencies—including but not limited to the IRS, Social Security Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, or passport services—are encouraged to reach out to Rep. Houchin’s office by visiting houchin.house.gov or by calling (812) 288-3999.
