Hospital Foundation Recaps Successful Year at Annual Meeting

(Greensburg, IN) – The Hospital Foundation of Decatur County hosted its annual meeting on February 21, 2024, at the Learning Center in Greensburg. The Foundation recapped a successful 2023 year and shared plans for 2024.

The annual meeting opened with a welcome from Hospital Foundation Director Mandy Jo Lohrum, who shared that in 2023, The Hospital Foundation raised $377,177, including information about department grants and other program supports totaling $225,642.

Lohrum shared about the Remembrance Garden Fund that was created in 2023, with plans to hold a ribbon cutting in the near future.

The disbursement of funds to the Hospital toward the Rehab Capital Campaign in the amount of $256,932 also occurred in late 2023.

“We want to take a moment to pause and thank you all for your ongoing support,” said Lohrum. “Just like us, we know that you never take access to quality local healthcare for granted. You inspire us. We are moved by your generosity and kindness.”

Decatur County Memorial Hospital President/CEO Rex McKinney spoke of hired physicians who love the community, pre-Covid turnover rates, intern programs that keep talent local, and the 80 plus events the Hospital did, with over 3,600 hours donated to the community from the Hospital’s team.

DCMH Registered Dietician Whitney Dunagan also spoke about a grant given to Dietary from the Foundation to support participants of the weight loss program that the Hospital offers.

The Hospital Foundation presented Board member Jean Long with an award for her years of service to the Foundation, which included two terms on the board, prior years of serving on the gala committee, and countless hours of volunteering.

“This has grown and expanded, this board has become really strong,” Long said of her time with the Foundation. “It’s been a pleasure to be part of this and part of a group that wants to enhance what the Hospital does, and that’s what the Foundation does.”

Jacob Evans, Board President, held the business portion of the meeting with the election of new board members for 2024.

Nicole Johannigman, Spencer Burkert, and Dan Anderson were selected to serve until February 2027 for their first term. Elections for 2024 executive team were voted as follows: Jacob Evans, Board President; Scott Simmonds, Vice President; Kevin Koehne, Treasurer; and Cindy McCamment, Secretary.

The Hospital Foundation has three upcoming events for the year: Annual Gala, taking place on April 26,; Event “Fore” Caring, taking place on May 17; and Tee Off “Fore” Ta-Ta’s, taking place on September 13.

The Hospital Foundation of Decatur County was founded in 1992 as a 501(c)3 organization to provide additional financial support for the healthcare initiatives of Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
