Homemade bomb suspect to be sentenced Friday

Lawrenceburg, In. — A Dearborn County man who had a homemade bomb blow up in his house will be sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to possession of a destructive device or explosive with knowledge or intent to kill.

On Easter of 2017 Back is believed to have placed the device in a gift bag that was intended for his former girlfriend. Investigators from the Indiana State Fire Marshall’s office said interior walls were blown out as much as five inches from the blast.

In exchange for the guilty plea charges of manufacturing a destructive device and criminal recklessness were dropped.

Back could receive up to 15-years in prison.
