Holton man sentenced in attempted cop murder case

Versailles, In. — A Holton man has been sentenced to 41 years in prison for an incident that involved the attempted murder of a police officer.

Timothy Bowman was convicted by a jury in March of this year for attempted murder, pointing a firearm, domestic battery, and invasion of privacy and was sentenced Tuesday in Ripley Circuit Court.

Multiple victims were present, including the police officer that was threatened and Bowman’s family members when the crime was committed.

Hertel hoped that this will provide some closure to a family that has suffered major losses in the past few years.  Also, Hertel encouraged the public to reach out the next time they cross paths with a police officer and shake their hand and thank them for what they do.  Many times police officers come into contact with people who are at their worst and difficult to deal with.  These men and women protect and uphold our laws but they also risk their lives so that our families can be safe.  They aren’t recognized enough but in this case someone tried to take their lives and it became even more clear for someone integrally involved in the system how dangerous their job can be.
