(Holton, IN) – A Holton area man was arrested following a SWAT standoff early Tuesday morning.

Ripley County Sheriff Rob Bradley says deputies were called to a home on County Road 500 North near Holton around 3:20 a.m. on a report of a man later identified as 48-year-old Micah Hewitt unlawfully entering a home.

The caller reported there were two adults and two children in the home, hiding from Hewitt in a bedroom.

Deputies surrounded the home and escorted the family out of the residence through a bedroom to safety.

Bradley says Hewitt had two felony warrants in Ripley County and had been evading arrest since 2023.

Deputies then started using a public address system, urging to Hewitt to exit the home and surrender.

Indiana State Police and their SWAT team was called to the scene.

Once a search warrant was obtained, and after several hours, SWAT forced entry into the home.

Shortly after the home was breached, Hewitt came to the door and peacefully surrendered.

Ripley County EMS remained on standby in the area for a rapid response, if necessary.
