HOUSTON– Once again there’s good local baseball news. It’s a second straight rotation start for a southeast Indiana native.
Right-handed former Batesville Bulldog Bryan Hoeing, with his 1.99 ERA and 20 strikeouts, is expected to open on the mound tonight for the Miami Marlins against the Houston Astros, who’ll go with left-hander Framber Valdez.
In shoring up the Marlins’ much-injured pitching regulars, Hoeing opened last Friday against the White Sox, and while he only went 3 innings, Hoeing struck out 4 batters and put 32 of his 46 pitches over for strikes.
