Dearborn County, In. — Dearborn County Emergency Management officials, engineering consultants and property managers at Hidden Valley Lake are taking precautionary measures after a slippage of soil on the dam.
During the evening of Monday, January 22 property managers first noticed the small slippage and implemented the emergency response plan.
On January 23 an engineer evaluated the dam and briefed officials on the findings. While any slippage is a serious matter, this slippage is not accompanied by any water leaks and does not represent an immediate risk. Continuous monitoring will be conducted until permanent repairs can be completed in the spring.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Indiana Department of Homeland Security were also notified.
