Hertel Files More Charges Against Former Sheriff

Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel

(Clark County, IN) – Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel has filed additional charges against the former Clark County Sheriff.

Hertel is the special prosecutor in the case, in which 15 felony counts – including Fraud, Theft and Ghost Employment – were filed against Jamey Noel in November.

Both Jamey Noel and now his wife Misty are each facing five felony counts of Theft over $50,000 (all Level 5 felonies) and five counts of Tax Evasion (all Level 6 felonies).

The new charges are the result of an ongoing Indiana State Police investigation. Authorities say detectives provided updated evidence and information to Hertel, who filed the charges on Thursday.

Both of the Noels appeared in Clark County Circuit Court with family members and legal representation Thursday morning, and Misty Noel turned herself in after the charges were presented.

She was booked in the Clark County Detention Center before being transported to Scott County, where she is being held without bond until her initial court appearance on Monday.

Jamey Noel remains free on bond.
