Herman Lee, 78, of Milan, passed away at 12:30 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky. He was born at Oneida in Clay County, Kentucky January 9, 1948, the son of Tom and Alice Davidson Lee. He was married to Barbara Murray on November 18, 1965 and his wife of 60 years preceded him in death on June 22, 2026. Other survivors include one son James (Michelle) Lee of Milan; one daughter Sherry Fritch of Milan; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and another on the way; one brother Kenny Lee of Versailles. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Ryan Fritch, his brothers Virgil, Harold, Arthur, and Eugene, and his sisters Maudie Herbert, Louetta Sabino, and Lorraine Everage. Herman attended Jac-Cen-Del until the Vietnam Draft and was very proud to serve in the US Marines, rising to the rank of Seargent, and to receive his GED while serving his country. For service to his country Herman received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and qualified as a Marksman with both the rifle and pistol. In civilian life Herman worked for over 30 years as a Tooler and Programmer for Cummins. After his retirement he could not sit still so he worked for Glen Comer at Comer Buildings for many years. He was a member of the Milan Veterans of Foreign War. Funeral Services will be held on 11:00am, Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Greendale Cemetery in Osgood with Pastor Ben Bausback officiating from the Bridge of Hope with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion Leora Weare Post #178. Memorials may be given to the Greendale Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
