Henry Gene Vastine, 73, of Aurora, IN, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024.
He was born December 5, 1950, in Ripley County, Indiana, son of the late Blaine Vastine and Nellie (Williams) Vastine.
Gene served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He worked for Aurora Casket, with many years of service.
Gene was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge, Hogan Township Fire Department and the Aurora Fire and EMS.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 47 years, Joy (Courter) Vastine, children, Tracy (Barb) Vastine, Melissa Ann Vastine (Clayton Schreiner), Misty Lynn (Joshua) Kindler, Michael Gene (Mellissa) Vastine; grandchildren, Kasey, Heather, Hannah, Ashley, Jayden, Courtney, Landon; great-grandchildren, Bryson and Braxton; siblings, David, Nancy, Judy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Blaine and Nellie Vastine; granddaughter, Chelsey; and siblings, Raymond, Bonnie.
Friends will be received Thursday, February 1, 2024, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, IN. Masonic services will be held Thursday evening.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home, Friday February 2, 2024 at 11:00 am with Mike Abdon officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hogan Hill Cemetery, Aurora, IN. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard.
