Helen J. Newmann, 88, of Aurora, Indiana passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at Ripley Crossing, Milan Indiana.
She was born September 24, 1935, in Farmer’s Retreat, IN, daughter of the late Wilkie Droege and Martha (Schuette) Droege.
Helen graduated from Dillsboro High school and moved to Cincinnati and worked several years at Provident Bank. She then married Elvin Newmann and raised her two daughters. After raising her daughters, she worked as a Bailiff at Dearborn County Courthouse for several years. Helen was a member of “OBC” Bridge Club and enjoyed the many trips they took as a group. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Aurora and Pi Beta Phi sorority. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family. She loved watching her kids and grandkids playing sports, you could always find her on the sidelines cheering them on and decked out in her appropriate spirit wear.
Helen is survived by her loving spouse of 66 years, Elvin Newmann, daughters, Amy Bressert (Tim Sparks), Beth (Jack) Teaney; grandchildren, Robert Curtis (Jackie), Morgan Lynn, Amber Elizabeth (Mike), Hannah Marie (Fiancé Mitch); three great grandchildren, Harrison Elvin, Kolbe Curtis and Santino Anthony; brother, Paul “Butch” (Cathy) Droege; sister-in-law, Polly Newmann, and many loved nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilkie and Martha; brother, Karl and nephew Mike Droege.
Friends will be received Thursday, March 14, 2024, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the St. John Lutheran Church Aurora, 220 Mechanic St., Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at the church at 12:00 pm with Pastor Mark Hesse officiating.
Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, IN.
