(Batesville, IN) – Tomorrow is the first of four heavy trash collection days this year for Rumpke customers in the Batesville city limits.
Rumpke begins pickup at 5 a.m. They’ll collect up to 10 large items, which are materials too large to fit in a garbage can or weigh more than 75 pounds.
Residents are advised to put out their items tonight to ensure materials will be picked up.
Acceptable items include:
– old clothing
– furniture, bedsprings, and mattresses (must be covered in cellophane/plastic), etc.
– old rugs, carpet pieces only, no rolls (not weighing more than 75 pounds)
– rubber hoses
– appliances (including washers, dryers)
– insulation
– cans or buckets, totally cleaned and dry
– paint cans (must be dried paint)
Unacceptable items include:
– Electronic devices containing mercury (TVs, computers, microwaves, cell phones, etc.)
– Building and construction materials (bricks, etc.)
– Remodeling materials (interior/exterior)
– Car body parts including wheels and tires
– Steel or metal framing
– Tree limbs, grass clippings, or leaves
– Landscape materials
TVs, computers and monitors, microwaves, and all other electronics may be dropped off for a fee at the Batesville Area Recycle Center, located at 616 John Street. Operating hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 1-6 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.
The remaining heavy trash pickup days this year are May 4, August 3 and November 2.
