Hagerstown hands Wildcat volliers a pair of losses

On Tuesday in Brookville, both the Franklin County varsity and JV lost to Hagerstown.  The visiting Lady Tigers won 25-19, 25-14, 25-15.

“It was not the outcome we were looking for on our second night of play,” said Cats varsity coach Jill Mergenthal. “With the good comes the bad and that’s where we will pick up at practice. We are going to work on momentum, speed and staying positive. We were on point with our serves and I’m very proud of how we overcame that from Monday.”

Some of the more notable Franklin County individual results included: Kassidy Schell with 2 aces, 1 kill, 6 assists and 6 digs; Kiersten Schell with 1 ace, 4 kills, 1 block, 1 assist and 7 digs; Saige Mergenthal with 1 ace, 2 kills, 1 solo block, 1 block and 1 dig; Kacie Williams with 5 assists and Hadlee Hornsby had 6 digs.

The visiting Tigers also beat the host Cats 16-25, 25-21, 15-13

“The JV Lady Cats played a competitive game against Hagerstown but ended up losing in three sets,” stated Franklin County assistant coach Tana Stang.  “There were many great plays which occurred, but the little mistakes are what got us.”

Among the individual highlights, Annie Hoff led the team with 3 aces, 3 kills, 2 digs, 1 block and 1 assist. Stephanie Billman had 5 assists, 3 digs, 2 kills and 1 ace.
