H.S. softball recaps from Tuesday, April 26; Ferman signs with Spalding

At FCHS, she is currently second all time in career home runs, second all time in career walks, fourth in career innings pitched (and she’s struck out 16 batters in a game twice), third in career wins and third in career strikeouts despite missing her sophomore season to COVID. The following are high school softball recaps from Tuesday, April 26.  All are varsity games unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please check back.

South Decatur lost to Tri High 15-4.

For the Cougars, Lakota Henry singled and doubled with three RBI.  Kasidy Haley and Loryn Pate both tripled and Molly Eden batted in a run.

Greensburg grinded out a 2-1 victory at home over Franklin County.

Pirate pitcher Hermione Robinson struck out 10 and kept a potent Wildcat lineup in check.  She also knocked in both Greensburg runs.

Franklin County’s six hits came from two players- Brooke Stang who had three singles and a double with the team’s only RBI and Bree Bischoff who picked up a pair of hits.  KK Ferman struck out eight Pirates in the loss.

Ferman, by the way, recently sigend to play college softball at Spalding University in Lousivile.

Connersville defeated Batesville in a double header.  The Spartans took the first game 14-1.

McKenna Lucas led CHS offensively with four hits including a home run and four RBI.  Baylie Spurlock and Shelby Wolski both had two his and drove in two.  Rayleigh Bresher singled and doubled with one ribbie.  Kindred Conley pitched four innings and struck out 13 for the win.

The Spartans posted a 12-2 victory in game two.

Spurlock, Bresher and Jade Green all homered and doubled.  Spurlock batted in four runs, Green knocked in two and Bresher plated one.  The Ruble sisters, Sara and Carmen each singled and doubled.  Wolski pitched all five frames for the win and fanned nine.

North Decatur beat Milan 11-1.

Ally Whitaker, Kacie Ogden, Kayln Muckerhide and Sara Swain all had two hits for ND.  Keesha Crosland struck out 12 and walked none over six innings for the win.

Mackinze Deffinger had two of the Indians four hits.

Franklin County’s JV beat Greensburg 24-4.

For the Wildcat reserves, Annie Hoff hit four times with a triple and three RBI.  Tiffany Billman booked two singles and a three bagger with four ribbies.  Bella Lee singled and doubled plating three runs.  Lillie Graff singled twice with two runs batted in. Emma Stadtmiller posted a pair of singles. Madison Middendorf and Kirsten Ison both had a hit and a ribbie. And Kendal Cain pitched a complete game victory with seven strikeouts.  She also singled, doubled and knocked in a run.
