H.S. softball recaps from Thursday, April 28

The following are high school softball recaps from Thursday, April 28.  All games are varsity unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please check back.

South Ripley held off North Decatur 7-5.

For the Raiders, Mady Tompkins had three hits.  Brooklyn Brown singled and tripled with three RBI.  Emily Campbell and Cassie Franklin both had two hits and one RBI. Winning pitcher Ellie Waldron struck out nine and walked four. At the plate, she homered off the scoreboard and singled with two ribbies.

For the Chargers, Kennedy Stier collected two singles and a run batted in.  Keesha Crosland doubled and drove in three.  She took the loss in the circle despite fanning 14 and walking only two. Kacie Ogden also notched an RBI.

Jac-Cen-Del defeated Milan 13-7.

The Eagles Olivia Strunk doubled and tripled with four RBI.  Ashlynn Moorman drove in three on a single and double.  Maria Meyer and Savannah James both had two hits.  Meyer batted in a run.  Emalee Veerkamp had two ribbies while Bailey Groth and Tobie Benefiel knocked in a run as well. James was the winning pitcher.

For the Indians, Karsyn Bode had two hits and two RBI.  Kenzie Seale also notched a pair of singles and plated a run.  Macklee Rivera singled and logged a sac fly for an RBI. Eleanor Honnert was the pitcher of record.

South Decatur bested Waldron 14-3.

Lakota Henry doubled twice with four RBI.  Madison Mikulec knocked in two on a single. Loryn Pate also drove in a run on a base hit and earned the win in the circle striking out nine and walking two.

Greensburg defeated Batesville 6-1.

For the Bulldogs, Kaylin Hinners and Emma Belter both booked two hits.  Belter drove in a run.  Katie Mobley pitched a complete game for BHS and pitched well according to coach Gene Cooney who also noted improved play from the defense.

Franklin County rallied to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh overtake Rushville 7-6.  Kiersten Schell drove in the game winning run on a single up the middle.

Kensee and KK Ferman both batted in runs earlier in the frame to set the stage for Schell.  Both players had two hits.  Kensee collected four RBI and KK knocked in two.  Brooke Stang logged a pair of singles and Bree Bischoff pitched a complete game for the win.

The Wildcat reserves beat the Lions 14-5.

Bella Lee went the distance in the circle to earn the win.  She struck out 10 and also had an RBI.  Teammates Annie Hoff, Tiffany Billman, Emma Stadtmiller and Kristen Ison all had two hits.  Stadtmiller recorded three RBI. Ison had two.  Hoff and Billman both booked one.  Bailey Kaiser plated three runs on one hit.

The Connersville varsity downed Knightstown 14-9 and amassed 16 hits on the day.

The Spartans Carmen Ruble, Paige Dunaway, Bre Brock and Kindred Conley had three each.  Brock batted in five runs and homered twice.  Conley logged three two baggers and Dunaway doubled twice. Rayleigh Bresher homered once and collected two ribbies.
