The following are high school varsity softball recaps from April 4 (unless noted otherwise).  There may be updates, so please check back.

South Ripley opened the season with an 11-1 victory over Austin in five innings.

Mady Tompkins and Ellie Waldron combined to strike out 11 against three hits, two walks and no earned runs.  Tompkins pitched 3-1/3 innings for the win.  She also had three hits at the plate with an RBI.  Waldron and Alexa Heidt each drove in a pair of runs.  Waldron’s came on a two-run tater in the second. Heidt tripled.

South Decatur fell 14-7 to Henryville.  The Cougar defense had a tough day with four errors.

Offensively for the Westport ladies, Loryn Pate had four hits and two RBI.  Kassidy Haley singled and tripled.  Lakota Henry singled and doubled with two knocks while Molly Eden also singled and double with one RBI.

South Dearborn got by Switzerland County 3-2.  Kori Cornett got the start for SD and pitched well but it was Kyra Labazzo who got the win in relief.   The two combined for 14 strikeouts and allowed just four hits.

The Knights trailed 2-1 going into the home seventh.  Chayse Hoskins got her third hit of the game to start the last inning and scored the tying run on a passed ball.  Kylee Peelman later crossed the dish for the game winner off the clutch hit from Lakota Vincent.

We thank everyone who contributed to the recaps.
