The following are high school baseball recaps from Thursday, April 14. All games are varsity unless noted otherwise. There may be updates, so please check back.
Batesville and East Central played four extra innings at Liberty Park before the Bulldogs finally prevailed 7-6 in 11.
The Trojans led 4-3 heading into the home seventh. The Bulldogs Travis Lecher doubled home the tying run to force extras. EC had BHS down 5-4 in the 10th only to see Jack Grunkemeyer score the tying run on a bases loaded walk. The St. Leon lads had the home Dogs behind 6-5 in the 11th. That’s when Batesville’s Will Jaisle hit the game-winning, two-out, two RBI double.
Jaisle also was the pitcher of record throwing the final three innings in relief. Lecher had four hits including two doubles and two runs batted in. Charlie Schebler and Zach Wade both hit a pair of singles.
East Central’s Ryan Bovard and Luke Vogelgesang each had two hits. Brayden Rouse doubled and drove in two runs.

The Trojans won the JV game over the Bulldogs 8-2 in St. Leon.
Conner Drake led the Batesville reserves with two hits and an RBI. Cade Kaiser struck out five over 3-2/3 innings with three earned runs allowed.

Southwestern defeated Shawe 11-1.
The Rebels Jackson Ary, Jordan DeAtley and Zach Cole all produced two hits. Ary’s two hits were both doubles and he knocked in a pair of runs. DeAtley pitched a complete five-inning game with 11 strikeouts, one walk and no earned runs allowed.
For the Hilltoppers, Philip Kahn had two hits and batted in Jacob Hertz for the team’s only run. Shawe struggled defensively with nine errors.

Greensburg lost a heartbreaker at Rushville 8-7. The Lions scored five times in the sixth and twice in the seventh to record the victory.
For the Pirates, Corbin Mathews had five RBI on a double, homer and two sac flies.
The Lions Adam Sizemore drove in three runs on two doubles and a single. Maurice Manghelli had two RBI on two hits and Harley Fuller also batted in two runs.

South Dearborn bested Lawrenceburg 4-1.
The Knights Reese Willoughby gave up just one run on one hit while striking out nine for the win. Brother Ryan pitched a scoreless final frame to get the save. Reese had three hits at the plate and teammate Corbin McHenry knocked in two runs.

Milan was an 8-5 winner in nine innings over Rising Sun. Ethan Kauling had the big hit in the top of the ninth when he drove in two runs on a single.
The Indians got out of a bases-jam with no outs in the bottom of the seventh to extend the game.
Milan’s Dylan Thomas earned the win while tossing the final three innings. Jeremiah Johnson started on the bump and left with a no decision and seven strikeouts against one walk. Johnson also had a couple of hits at the plate. Eli Herd, Caiden Yorn and Thomas also drove in a run.
The Shiners Johnathan Jimenez hit a third-inning grand slam to go along with a triple and a single.
