H.S. baseball recaps from May 6 and 7

The following are high school baseball recaps from Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7.  All games are varsity unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please check back.

Shawe was one of the few area baseball teams to play Friday due to rain.  They made the trip west and beat West Washington 1-0.

The lone run of the game was scored by the Hilltoppers in the top of the fourth.  Tyler Hill reached on a fielder’s choice and took second on a throwing error.  Christian Whitham grounded to short and reached on another throwing error which also allowed Hill to score from second.

Shawe’s Hunter Kennett was the winning pitcher. He got out of a big jam in the bottom of the seventh when the Senators had runners at second and third with only one out.  Kennett struck out his ninth and 10th batters of the game to secure the win.

Hill and Wyatt Nichter had the only two Topper hits.  Shawe and West Washington will meet again in three weeks in Sectional 62 at Shawe.

For the Pacers, Bryce Turner had three hits with a triple and three RBI, Evan Halstenberg tallied five RBI on two hits and Kaleb Koons collected two singles.

We thank everyone who contribued to the recaps.
