The following are high school varsity baseball recaps from April 4 (unless noted otherwise).  There may be updates, so please check back.

Batesville’s Jack Grunkemeyer and Charlie Schebler combined to throw a no hitter during a 1-0 conference victory against Connersville.  Grunkemeyer got the win throwing the first five and fanned eight.  Schebler earned the save tossing the final two.

Batesville’s only run came in the sixth.  Travis Lecher boarded on fielder’s choice then later scored on a line drive single to right center by Max Baumer.

Brayden Lykins pitched well for Connersville as he surrendered just two hits and K’d nine in a complete game effort.

The two clubs also had a JV game.  The Bulldogs won 15-nothing in five.  Eli Loichinger dealt 10 strikeouts in four innings of work.  Carter Bohman completed the combined no hitter as he polished off the fifth.  Offensively for the Dogs, Bobby Weiler and Cade Kaiser both collected a couple of hits.

South Decatur was a 6-0 winner over Jac-Cen-Del.  The Cougars had just three hits but benefited from three Eagle errors and four issued walks.  Clark Dwenger had two JCD’s three hits.

North Decatur lost 11-2 to Southwestern Hanover.  The Rebels Zach Cole went 5-for-5 at the plate with three doubles and two RBI.  Jamison Lewis and Will Stockdale both doubled twice and singled once with a pair of ribbies.  Jordan DeAtley also contributed a pair of singles and RBI to match.  Cole got the W on the bump striking out 13 with four hits and no walks over 6-1/3 innings.

For ND, Jacob Mirick had two hits.  Reid Messer started on the hill and took the loss.

And Shawe lost 13-0 at home to Carroll County which benefitted from nine walks allowed and three Topper errors.  CC pitching did not allow a hit during the five inning shutout.

We thank everyone who contributed to the recaps.
