Grunkemeyer’s early home run plays major role in 5-run win for Batesville varsity baseball

On Wednesday night, Batesville varsity baseball earned a 7-2 victory over Lawrenceburg, thanks to some early fireworks on offense.

In the first inning, the Bulldogs got the offense going with a 3-run home run by Jack Grunkemeyer.

Batesville would rack up four hits on the day. Charlie Schebler and Grunkemeyer both had multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Grunkemeyer led the team in hits, going 2-3 with a  3 RBI.

Jordan Davidson went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Lawrenceburg in hits. Kyle Heeny and JP Izzo both had RBI for the Tigers.

Schebler pitched Batesville to victory. The righty surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out 11 and walking one. Cade Kaiser threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Kyle Heeney led things off on the hill for Lawrenceburg, lasting four innings, allowing one hit and four runs while striking out five. Davidson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
