Batesville, IN — Years of discussions, planning, and fundraising paid off Tuesday evening when a groundbreaking ceremony for the Batesville Skatepark took place.

The 11,000-square-foot facility is being built in The Plex on Pohlman Street, which will allow for easy access to nearby Liberty Park and the city’s trail system.

The Batesville Area Skatepark Advocacy partnered with the City of Batesville and Batesville Parks and Recreation to bring the park to the community.

The goal is to increase physical activity and provide more opportunities for healthy and safe entertainment for all ages.

There are also plans to create a surrounding area with a pump track, bouldering walls, and musical features to help complete the space.

Hunger Skateparks is building the facility.

Construction is expected to be completed in three to four months.
