UPDATE: Arrest Made in Shooting

UPDATE (April 30, 2026):

(Greensburg, IN) – Greensburg Police have arrested a Greencastle man in connection with an early-morning shooting last Monday.

Twenty-two-year-old Gregory D. Trimble was taken into custody Thursday in Kentucky, where he also faced an outstanding warrant. Investigators say Trimble went to a home at 1008 East North Street, got into a physical altercation with the resident and shot him.

The U.S. Marshals Service, Indiana State Police, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and several other local agencies assisted in the arrest.

Original Story (April 27, 2026):

(Greensburg, IN) – Greensburg Police responded around 4 a.m. Monday to 1008 East North Street for a report of a man who had been wounded by a gunshot.

The preliminary investigation indicates another man came to the victim’s house, where a physical altercation ensued, which led to the shooting.

The names of those involved are not being released.

Police say the investigation is in its early stages, and that there is no known threat to the community.

The incident took place near Greensburg High School, which prompted officials to put Greensburg Community Schools on a two-hour delay Monday morning.
