(Greensburg, IN) – Greensburg City Council heard a presentation Tuesday night on the State Road 3 Safety Action Plan, also known as Future 3.
Cheryl Franks with the Lochmueller Group, an Indianapolis-based civil engineering and planning firm, presented the safety plan to council.
“This was a project spearheaded by the City of Rushville that gathered your local community partners such as the City of Greensburg, Rush County, Decatur County, Henry County, to look at both State Road 3 from I-70 down to U.S. 421 but also look at the three-county area,” Franks said.
She says Future 3 is a guide and not a mandate jurisdictions to build or spend money.
“The goal of a safety action plan is to identify projects that will help reduce or eliminate fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways,” Franks said.
She added the plan is a roadmap for partner entities to prepare for possible future projects and apply for grants.
Franks says they hope to see to zero fatal crashes along the State Road 3 corridor by 2050.
