(Greensburg, IN) – Greensburg City Council and the Board of Works both received an update Tuesday night from John Bryant with the Verdius Group on the estimated $20 million Municipal Campus project.

The street department and the new fire station will be located on the site at Broadway and Barachel.

Bryant told city leaders the construction design documents are ready for both departments.

He said the fire department’s documents have been submitted to the State of Indiana, and the city hopes to have them approved and returned by the end of this week.

Bryant added the next step would be for the city to release building permits and work can begin on site.

He also told the Board of Works and Council that, if all goes according to plan, a groundbreaking ceremony would take place on May 13 at 10:30 am.

Plans call for the street department to take occupancy of its building either this October or November while the fire station would go online in March 2024.

The new fire station would replace Fire Station One on Ireland Street, which was been in service since 1975 and is considered obsolete.

The street department is looking to move out of its current building on Monfort Street, which is also considered cramped and outdated.
