(Greensburg, IN) – The Greensburg Police Department has taken the wraps off LifeVac, a new tool that all of the Tree City’s public safety personnel will have in their vehicles to help them better respond to calls involving choking adults and children.

LifeVac is a non-invasive, single patient portable airway clearance device to be used in a choking emergency.

Officer Dillon Able went through the department’s chain of command and spearheaded the effort to obtain the device after he used it to save his young daughter’s life.

City officials say LifeVac is less harmful than the Heimlich Maneuver, and can be used by anyone.

It is credited with saving nearly 2,500 lives across the country to date.
