(Indianapolis, IN) – Governor Mike Braun signed executive orders on Wednesday to extend Indiana’s gas tax holiday.
The governor’s action continues diesel tax relief and extends the suspension of the Gasoline Excise Tax and the Gasoline Usage Tax through December 4.
“Affordability is my top priority, and I’m using every tool available to help Hoosier families and farmers save money at the pump,” said Governor Braun. “We’re keeping these savings for Hoosier families and farmers in place for another month while protecting funding for our roads and infrastructure.”
Governor Braun first took action to make fuel more affordable in Indiana for Hoosiers in April.
Executive Order 26-35 extends the statewide energy emergency declared on August 7 for another 30 days, beginning November 5 and continuing through December 4.
The order suspends collection of Indiana’s Gasoline Excise Tax and Gasoline Usage Tax in all 92 counties for the duration of the emergency.
In a second executive order, Governor Braun also continued the suspension of special fuel restrictions for Indiana farmers and timber harvesters, allowing them to use dyed diesel fuel in qualifying highway vehicles engaged in agricultural and timber harvesting operations to help reduce transportation costs.
Braun’s Office says, as Indiana farmers harvest corn and soybeans across the state, these savings will go a long way.
The governor says he remains committed to making local units of government whole and using current reserves to allow the Indiana Department of Transportation highway fund to continue all fiscal year 2027 projects and maintenance uninterrupted.
