ND Varsity Volleyball Defeats Oldenburg Academy 3 – 2

North Decatur Volleyball kicked off the busy week with a great win against Oldenburg Academy! Lady Chargers came out slow in the first set but by picking up the intensity, focus on defense, and hustle we were able to battle back and win in 5 sets.

Hannah Gorrell and Madi Allen picked up 24 and 20 digs, respectively. Clare Kinker and Sarah Moeller hustled after 12 digs, each, and Sydney Rohls and Kelsey Haley were also active on defense, grabbing 9 and 8 digs, respectively. At the net, Ella Kunz was very active with 7 solo blocks. Rohls added 2 solo blocks and Allen and Annie Waechter added one block each. Our offense played well across the board with Rohls putting away 13 kills, Miley Scudder had 11 kills and Ella Kunz and Madi Allen added 10 kills each. Kelsey Haley enabled the offense with her 39. Allen had a great night of serving with 5 kills and no errors on 22 attempts. Kelsey Haley added 5 aces, Rohls served 2 aces, and Moeller and Scudder both added an ace.

The JV volleyball team also earned a win against OA Monday night. The Chargers played well as a team with hustle and communication across the board to win in 2 (25-21, 25-18). Ellie Johnson served up 3 aces, Kendall Hostkoetter served 2 aces, and Maggie Burkhart, Jo Whitaker, and Oakley Freel served 1 ace each. On defense, we had great movement, with Jo Whitaker grabbing 7 digs, Hostkoetter and Burkhart both picking up 6 digs, Ally Whitaker added 5 digs and Anna Mauer picked up 4. Burkhart set up 5 assists on the night and added 2 kills. Jo Whitaker put away 3 kills, Gabi Adams had 2 kills, and Sara Litmer, Ellie Johnson, and Brooke Mauer all added a kill.
