Girls junior high basketball recaps from March 7

The following are girls junior high basketball recaps from Monday, March 7.

In the first round of the girls junior high SEI Basketball Tournament, Batesville’s seventh grade advanced with a 45-13 win over Greendale.  The Bulldogs jumped out to a 17-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

BMS was led in scoring by Ella King with 14 points.  Sydney Campbell and Kaylin Kathman followed with nine and seven respectively.  Claire Neise and Kathman both had four assists.

The Batesville eighth fell to Greendale 38-18.  Every Bulldog contributed to the scoring.  They played hard but just didn’t have enough offense to beat the Bengals.

Ressa Zimmerman’s five points and three by Grace Walter were tops for the Dogs.

The St. Louis seventh grade topped South Dearborn 26-22 during an opening round match.  The Cardinals had lost to the Squires earlier in the season.

Olivia Leising scored all six of her points in the first half to help stake the Cardinals to a 13-8 lead at intermission.

SD had a brief 22-21 edge, but Aubrey Baker put back an offensive rebound to give St. Lou the lead back.  Bella Young added the final insurance points on a three ball which provided the four-point victory.

Young finished with 10 points.  Baker joined Leising with six points on the night.

The eighth grade Cardinals season ended with a 28-4 defeat to the Squires.  Cora Roth scored all four points for St. Louis.

We thank everyone who contributed to the recaps.
