Girls junior high basketball recaps from March 1-3

The following are girls basketball recaps from March 1-3.

Batesville’s seventh grade defeated Connersville 41-24.  The Bulldogs Ella King had 12 points and nine rebounds.  Kaylin Kathman posted nine points and five assists while Mimi Smith contributed five points and seven steals.

The Bulldog seventh then completed a 14-1 regular season following a 46-13 victory over Franklin County.  BMS actually trailed 9-7 at the end of the first quarter. Sydney Campbell had a team-best 13 points, Smith scored 12 and King netted 10. Every player on the roster had at least one steal.  Smith recorded nine swipes.

The St. Louis seventh grade also finished up a fine regular season at 10-2 with a 27-7 win against St. Nicholas.  Olivia Leising’s 10 points were a team high.  Gina Grote chipped in five.I

The eighth grade Cardinals closed out their regular season with a mark of 13-4 following their 24-9 vic over St. Nich. Cora Roth and Belle Young both bucketed six points.  Bridget Lohmueller and Rachel Suttmann followed with four each.

The St. Lou sixth grade closed out its season, winning a barn burner 27-26 over St. Nicholas.   The Cardinals led 17-12 at the half and managed to hold on to the lead throughout the second half.  Hailee Weisenbach’s eight points were a St. Louis best.  Sophia Leising followed with six.  Aubrey Baker and Maggie Tekulve added four points each.

Coach Erin Trenkamp said it was a great season amd called her group of 10 the most selfless young ladies she knows.
