Gertrude Anna Linville

Gertrude Anna Linville, left this earth for Heaven at 92 years of age. Formerly of Batesville she passed away on April 12, 2018 at the Heartford House/Hospice of Western, Kentucky.

The daughter of August and Arietta (nee: Kramer) Ahrens was born January 15, 1926 in Batesville, Indiana.  Gertrude married Lawrence Linville on September 11, 1946, he passed away in 1977.  She later married Elmer Thie.

She was employed at Hillenbrand Industries as a sewing machine operator of a 13 needle shearing machine.  She worked a total of 42 years with HI, retiring in 1989.  Over the years she had been a Lifetime Member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she held several positions and traveled Indiana extensively with her late husband Elmer Thie as he served as Indiana State Commander.  Although Batesville was always home, her later years were spent in Oak Ridge Assisted Living in Madisonville, KY, Heritage Park Assisted Living in Owensboro and Wellington Parc Nursing Home in Owensboro to be nearer to her family.

She enjoyed and talked frequently about her camping days at Bar K Lake where she loved to fish with her camping friends.  She enjoyed watching baseball games on television and particularly enjoyed watching her great grandchildren play various sports.  She would never pass up the opportunity to play any type of card game or bingo and played solitaire relentlessly!

She will be missed by her son, Richard and his wife, Christine (nee: Tollas) Linville, two grandchildren, Rich (Brandi) Linville and Rachel (Eric) Miller; along with five great grandchildren, Shelby and Sarah Linville and Isaac, Benjamin and Emelia Fox.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Lawrence, sisters, Betty Seibert and Wilma Meyer, her brother Ervin Ahrens, her great granddaughter, Annah Fox and her ex-husband Elmer Thie.
