George F. Amberger, age 94 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. Born February 22, 1929, in Blooming Grove Township Indiana. He is the son of Ida (Nee: Humig) and Jacob Amberger. He married Dolores Cramer on February 16, 1950, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville and she preceded him in death September 9, 2008.
George worked as a finisher at Romweber Furniture Company for over 30 years. He loved playing baseball on the Morris team and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. During his three years stay at the St. Andrew’s Health Campus, George made many dear friends with the staff as well as a special friend, Art Wilhelm. His greatest joy was the time spent with his family.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law John F. and Marilyn Amberger of Batesville; brother Bernard Amberger of Morris, Indiana; grandchildren Bradley J. (Michelle) Amberger, Heather (Jeff) Amberger Weber and Kyle (Joy) Amberger; great grandchildren Emma and Alex Weber, Hannah, and Jackson Amberger; step great grandchildren Morgan and Christian McConnell. In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Amberger and sisters Mary Johnson, Rosemary Luers and Catherine Wells.
Private services were held Friday, November 10th, at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. The burial followed at St. Louis Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Andrew’s Health Campus. For online condolences go to www.weigelfh.com.
