Gary Richard Schopmeyer, 80, of Greensburg passed away on July 8, 2024. He was born on March 26, 1944 in Brazil, Indiana, the son of Vernice and Mary Fugate Schopmeyer. Gary was a 1962 graduate of Patricksburg High School, where he held the school record for 42 points in a single basketball game. He served in the Indiana National Guard from 1964 until 1970. Gary married Martha Moore on February 29, 1992. Over the years he had worked for Central National Bank in Greencastle, owned and operated Slick’s Car Wash in Batesville, and raised Angus cattle in Greensburg. In his retirement he enjoyed driving tractors and farming for Steve Gunn. He was a member of the American Angus Association.
Survivors include: Wife, Martha Schopmeyer; children, Holly Jo (Burleigh) Law and Todd (Lori) Schopmeyer; stepdaughter, Beth (Maury) Campbell; grandchildren, Caleb (Ali) Law, Joshua (Mackenzie) Law, Rachel Law, Nathanael Law, Sierra Schopmeyer and Hudson Schopmeyer; step grandchildren, Maureen Campbell and Curtis Cambell; great grandchildren, Harper Law, Arthur Law, Morgan Law and Madeline Law; brothers, Eric (Lori) Schopmeyer and Joel Schopmeyer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike Schopmeyer.
