Fundraiser for student mural honoring COVID-19 workers

Batesville, IN– A Batesville High School student has designed a mural to pay homage to the local front line workers of the COVID-19 crisis. A fundraiser has launched in order to raise funds to have the mural installed at two downtown locations.

Olive Cerniglia, 16, created the mural with the inscription “In This Together” and displays healthcare, public safety, manufacturing, logistics, and education workers. Cerniglia is the daughter of Marc and Kristina and is a junior at the high school.

“What inspired me to do the mural about first responders was the bravery of all these heroes. I admire the dedication of doctors and nurses who are on the front lines of the pandemic, but also recognize the others such as truck drivers and police officers who deserve a lot of credit too,” Cerniglia stated.

The murals will be produced and installed by Rowland Graphics who is donating the time and material for the project.

“I’ve wanted to do something for the community and came across the awesome work of Olive and as a former BHS art student I thought it would be a great opportunity to help a local student display her talent while also promoting a message of togetherness,” Rowland Graphics owner Jimmy Rowland said.
