Frederick A. Lester, 73, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
He was born May 21, 1948, son of the late Chester R. Lester and Geneva (Combs) Lester.
He served his country as a member of the United States Army during Vietnam.
Fred served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war, where he honorably served with the 1st Cavalry at Bien Hoa, South Vietnam as well as Phuoc Vinh. He was very patriotic, and was a member of the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard. Fred would work with and mentor struggling veterans appointed by the Southeastern Indiana Veterans Treatment Court.
Fred was an extremely intelligent man, he served on the city council. He enjoyed playing guitar, and was amazing at it. He was in several bands and played with Lonnie Mack, George Smith and Dick Martin. He worked at Hillrom, at Seagram’s, and was at the Trading Post. He was very good at repairing instruments and had a shop in Aurora. He collected musical instruments and boots. Fred loved to help people and will be greatly missed.
Fred is survived by his children, Anthony Zinser of Aurora, IN, Mathew (Joni) Zinser of Morrow, OH, Connie Jean Lee of Aurora, IN; dear friend, Sherry “Lucy” Lester Zinser; grandchildren, Logan & Layla Zinser (fiancé Devyn Burke), Isaiah & Jonah Zinser and Lazarus Warner.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received Friday, December 10, 2021, 12:00- 2:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at the funeral home, at 2:00 pm.
Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard.
