Franklin Dale Turner, 80, Rising Sun

Franklin Dale Turner, 80, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Thursday, April 20th, 2023 at  Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Frank was born in Switzerland County, IN on December 31, 1942, a son of the late Lillian (Scudder) Turner and Lawrence B. Turner. Frank grew up in Switzerland County and attended school in Patriot and Vevay High School. He later went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army as an SP4 E4. While in service Frank was awarded: Sharpshooter Medal (Pistol), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, and Expert (Rifle). He was a proud member of the Rising Sun American Legion and the Vevay VFW. Frank married Peggy (Henry) Turner on June 1, 1968, in Vevay, IN. Frank and Peggy were married for nearly 55 years until his passing. Frank retired in 2006 from the Bemis Company in Florence, KY. He previously worked at the Schenley Distillery in Lawrenceburg, IN for 26 years. Frank enjoyed all types of sports and was an avid golfer. He especially loved watching his grandchildren participate in their sporting events. Frank also like watching horse races and making annual trips to the Kentucky Derby. Spending time with family, playing cards and taking road trips with his brothers was something he always looked forward to.

Frank is survived by his wife, Peggy Turner, of Rising Sun, IN; by his daughter, Kristy Cook, and husband A.D., of Greendale, IN; by his son, Dale Turner, and wife Angie, of Rising Sun, IN; by his grandchildren; Brandon Turner, Brent Turner, Kayley Weaver, Peighton Cook, Jenna (Gavin) Wells & Austin (Jill) Cook, by great-grandchildren: Warner, August, Christian, Emelia & Fletcher Wells & Anderson, Kennedy & Natalie Cook. Frank is also survived by three sisters, Vandora Stuard of Rising Sun, IN;  Rita Waltz of North Vernon, IN; Judy Weston of Milton, KY; and by his brother, Larry Turner, of Florence, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, by a sister, Wilma Turner, and by brothers, Lionel Turner, Harry Turner, Donnie Turner, Warren Turner,  Stanley Turner, and Paul Scudder.
 

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, April 24th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Eldon Fancher officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 23rd at Markland Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery.
