Franklin County Sheriff releases December Activity Report

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IN — Franklin County Sheriff Peter Cates has released the Sheriff’s Office activity report for December 2021.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 917 calls for service which is a 9 percent increase over the 834 calls in 2020. Among the calls of service investigated were:

  • Property Damage Accidents 52
  • Personal Injury Accidents 10
  • Burglary/Theft 13
  • Residential/Business Alarms 14
  • Domestic Battery/Battery 19
  • 911 Hang Up/Accidental Dial 102
  • Suspicious Persons/Vehicles 56
  • Traffic Stops 314
  • Business/Residence Checks 2

A total of 24 arrests were made by Sheriff’s Deputies on the following charges:

  • Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated 3
  • Criminal Trespass 1
  • Criminal Nonsupport 2
  • Burglary/Theft/Receiving Stolen Property 3
  • Disorderly Conduct 3
  • Battery/Domestic Battery 2
  • Warrants 10

There was an average of 58 prisoners housed in the Security Center throughout the month of December.

Deputies drove a total of 25,180 miles. The Transport Officers drove an additional 2,665 miles, for a total of 27,845 miles. The Transport Officers transported 13 prisoners to and from the Department of Corrections facilities throughout the States of Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.

No real estate was sold at Sheriff’s Auction.

Fifty-one civil process papers were served.

The Sheriff’s Office is reminding Franklin County residents that winter has arrived.

Drivers should slow their speed, allow for greater stopping distances, and/or stay off of slick surfaces.
