FC School Board votes to move ahead with artificial turf installation

(Brookville, IN) – The Franklin County Community School Board recently voted 6-1 to move ahead with the installation of artificial turf at the high school football field and to refurbish the track.

Board member Kevin Kaiser cast the lone no vote.

He has concerns about sanitizing and maintaining the turf and doesn’t believe the new playing surface would provide a return on investment.

Construction will begin in June after graduation.

If all goes according to plan, the first varsity football game on the new turf would be played on September 1 when the Wildcats entertain EIAC rival Rushville.

Grant Reeves has resigned from the Franklin County School Board, effective May 5.

He’s moving out of the county for work-related reasons.

Applications to fill the vacancy will be taken until Monday, April 24 at 4 pm.
