Frank A. Smith, 65, of Milan passed away at 4:30pm Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born at the Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville on April 27, 1951 the son of Carl and Myrtle Firth Smith. Survivors include one sister Jan (Ernie) Davis of Milan; brother-in-law Frank Braley of Versailles; sister-in-law Janice Smith of Versailles, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ruth Braley, and his brother Larry Smith. Frank, or Frankie as he was known by his friends and family loved music and dancing. He could identify the artist singing a song as soon as he heard the first few notes. When he was a child, Sister Ann Janelle established a school for Downs Syndrome children in Batesville and Frank learned to read and write. Frank’s favorite past time was not only following the Cincinnati Reds and IU basketball, but as long as he was able he loved to play both sports as well. Frankie also had a love for the camera and when was out his family said he was front and center to have his picture taken. Funeral services for Frank will be on Wednesday, June 29th at 12pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Harris Long of the First Baptist Church in Milan officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be from 10am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery or the Versailles American Legion in care of the funeral home.
