Franciscan Sisters name new officers

Oldenburg, In. — The Franciscan Sisters of Oldenburg completed their Chapter of Elections on Saturday, April 15 and elected the following Sisters to lead their Community beginning July 1.

Sister Christa Franzer will lead the Community of 183 Sisters as the Congregational Minister.  Franzer is from Dayton, OH and is a graduate of Marian University, Xavier University, and the University of Notre Dame.  She has ministered in education and currently serves in the Community’s finance office in Oldenburg and is a Marian University board member.  The servant leader previously served on Council from 2006-2012, and from 1994-2000.

Sister Delouise Menges will serve as the First Councilor.  She is originally from Cincinnati, OH and is a graduate of Marian University, University of Notre Dame, and St. Mary’s University of Winona, MN.  She has ministered in education for the past 47 years, currently at St. Veronica School in Cincinnati.

Sister Barbara Leonhard will serve as a Councilor, and is originally from St. Charles, MO.  Leonhard is a graduate of Marian University, Catholic Theological Union of Chicago and the Theological Union of Berkeley, CA.  She currently ministers as a workshop and retreat leader and also provides spiritual direction based in Oldenburg.

Sister Annette Grisley will serve as a Councilor, and is originally from Logansport, IN.  Grisley is a graduate of Marian University, Xavier University and St. Mary’s College of Winona, MN, and currently serves as a Pastoral Associate at Holy Angels Church in Dayton, OH.

The newly-elected governing council will serve from July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2024.
