Francis L. “Puffy” Hartman

Francis L. “Puffy” Hartman, age 65 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville.  Born October 18, 1957, in Batesville, he is the son of Marjorie (Nee:  Brankamp) and Alvadore Hartman.  Puffy was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and its Bingo Committee.

Puffy was a kind and friendly man who did not know a stranger.  He enjoyed chatting and visiting with his family and friends.  He could often be seen at Tellas Barber Shop where he not only went to get a haircut but to converse with Fran and other patrons while catching up on the latest news.

Some of Puffy’s best times were spent with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, on family vacations.  Puffy was a train enthusiast who enjoyed traveling with family to see miniature displays.  He enjoyed old western movies and country music.  Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Charlie Pride were a few of his favorites.

He enjoyed playing Bingo at St. Anthony’s Church, especially before his mother passed away, when they could attend together.  Puffy also liked to visit the local casinos with his buddies.  His family and friends would regularly join him playing Poker.  They would all take turns hosting and providing food.

He is survived by his sisters Diane Hornbuckle of Baltimore, Maryland, Jean Johnson of Milan, Indiana and Rose Hartman of St. Paul, Indiana; brother Roger Hartman of Dillsboro, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews & great nieces and great nephews.  In addition to his parents, Alvadore and Marjorie, he was preceded in death by his sister Janet Hartman and brother Mark Hartman.

In accordance with Puffy’s wishes, cremation was chosen by the family.  Calling will be held Wednesday, August 23rd, from 5 – 7 p.m., at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville.  A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev.
